As a tax exile from Connecticut I look at investments on an after tax basis, which is why I invest in MLPs. Midstream energy infrastructure does not get the respect it deserves from the market.
One interesting future trend to replace C corporation conversions may be conversions of MLPs to REITs under the new IRS rules. The converted entity retains tax exempt pass through status, earnings and profits retain the 20% deduction, and the corporate structural changes are present.
